HERE SHE IS!

I know you are going to scroll right past this down to the video(coming later) and pics. Well, I am going to write this so you can come back and read afterward. Well, we went to meet Olivia. Our time to arrive was 10:00. We left our hotel at 9:00 because we thought it was 30 min. away. Well, we arrived at 9:15! We had the nicest cab driver on the way. We went in and sat in a very cold room while we waited. Around 9:45 we saw a familiar face coming up the steps from the outside. John had the camera and I had the flip camera. He started saying, "oh my, oh my, oh my!" Well, before we knew it, Olivia's foster mom had walked in and gone to the office side. We did notice that even if we had been filming, we would not have gotten anything since Olivia was on her FM's back under her coat! We waited a bit longer and then we were taken back to a small room. Due to renovations we did not get a play room. :( Our social worker said that the social worker we were suppose to have is on maternity leave. We asked as many questions as we could, but our new social worker was not fluent and just chatted with our foster mom and played on her cell phone. Olivia was terrified and tired. We didn't get to hold her and we can tell the transition will be extremely hard for her. We saw no emotion from her again today. Please continue to pray for us....the lack of emotion really concerns me. The blank look that she has worries me. I am probably over reacting, but I am extremely concerned with this. We did learn that she is "sneaky" because she likes to go to the bathroom and unroll all the toilet paper. She likes candy, applesauce, and yougart....and that is prett much it. She has torn up the pictures of us that we sent and the Hallmark recordable book. Well, I will chalk that up to she is a baby. She is extremely timid. She is tiny! We return on Thursday at 10 to visit and then have lunch with Dr. Kim and get her forever on Friday at 4:00. Here is what you have been waiting for!!!!! Keep praying for us! I am worried about how upset she is going to be because she is very attached to her FM. She is very shy and very sensitive. In our room before leaving this morning! We are passing time waiting in a really COLD room. Our first look as she walked in. John is trying to get her to play. It worked for about 30 seconds. We tried several snacks, but she spit e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. of them out. Look at the box of GooGoos compared to her size. She is tiny! I stole a quick kiss, but this is as close as I could get! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

  4. I love her! She is precious and she is the newest member of our family! That is so cool. I almost took the computer to wake Annelyn to show her the pics, but I will wait until morning. I am praying hard...along with a lot of other people. In case you ever wondered, your family is so very loved. Know that you are all being surrounded by love and prayers. I have heard from countless people today who are just watching your blog for updates (me included). I can't wait to hear more. I love you all.

  5. PS - if she is sneaky, just think of the trouble she and Annelyn will get into at Grammy and Grampy's house especially!

  6. so i was sitting on the couch about to post for a third time on your last post and this new post popped up. as soon as i read the beginning and saw the picture of you and john i started to cry and ran upstairs. michael ran after me as i was running with the ipod, "WAAAAAIT LET ME SEEE!!!!!!" hahaha :)we sat upstairs and read it together. Laura she looks PERFECT. the pictures you got are PRICELESS. the last one is the BEST. you and john will be PERFECT parents for her and she will warm up in no time. just remember....all three of you were scared. when you get home, everything will fall into place. i love that you have Friday night together. there will be no such thing as spoiling her too much. God chose her for you and John before the beginning of time. Once she is in your arms Friday, she will be home. I love you and you are constantly on my mind and I can't stop talking about you to everybody.

  9. So amazing to see the culmination of so many weeks and months and years of praying and waiting. I know your emotions have to be all over the place. One of my favorite verses in Scripture and one that I have clung to since Adeline was first born is this:
    Isaiah 40:11
"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." His hand will gently lead you through this process. Rest in His arms as He carries you through all of the emotion. Feel the tenderness of His heart beating for you. You and John will be the most amazing parents to sweet little Olivia! I can't wait for play dates with her!!! :) Love you!

  12. We are praying for you, John and little Olivia. So excited to see your meeting day happen and that you will soon be a family leaving Seoul together. Following your journey has been great for us as we are steps behind you and will be looking to you for wisdom in the transition stages too.

  13. Yay Laura! I'm so happy to see you planting a kiss on Miss Olivia- you guys have waited too long. The transition will be tough but like Robin said it's good for her to be attached to someone. In fact, the one who might get the first smiles out of her may be Oscar:)I think our dog was instrumental in Mimi actually attaching to us!! I'm just so happy for you and John- keeping all of you in my prayers!

  14. i think i have read this post at least 8 times....it just seems so surreal that this is IT. I can't stop thinking of the verses in Acts 17....
"“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us..."
Our God is a BIG God and such a good God. He has determined this exact week in history for you and John to meet Olivia and He planned the exact place where she should live....in your arms :) He did this so that through this whole process you would know Him in a real, tangiable way.....your life will never be the same. I can't WAIT until I can hear your voice....OH I MISS YOU!!!

  15. You can do this---you have so many pulling for you and supporting you! The blank look is normal, I'm sorry to say; it won't be there forever, I PROMISE!!! She's so beautiful & so neat to finally see all of you together...thinking of you---you'll be ok and you'll make it through ---just like you have during this long wait!
