Day 4 in Korea--Feb. 15

Yesterday was a great day! We had a lot of fun. I was so tired by the time we got in that I fell asleep before blogging about our day. We started the day by having breakfast at our hotel as usual. We just took it easy, still talking about the previous day and our visit. It has weighed on my mind and I keep playing it out in my head minute by minute. I am so ready for Friday! We have a visit scheduled tomorrow at 10, so I will be posting some more pics!.....back to yesterday.

It is customary to take off your shoes when entering a room here. My dad has gone to another level. Those that know him will find this as no surprise! He is wearing the "slippers" from the flight. Before opening them yesterday he said, "who knew! I thought this was the throw up bag!" He is hilarious!!!

We headed out and ventured over and had our first lunch at a traditional Korean restaurant! It was yummy! We had some plum soda, traditional 5 flavor tea, bulgogi, kimchi, and pumpkin salad. I didn't think to take a picture of it, but it was all excellent!

We ran into some people there that live here. They made our meal so much fun! They were able to speak English so we chatted with them. They had a child with them who was also very interested in our different look. He was a super cute kiddo! They told us everything we were eating and some places to visit. What a great meal and excellent encounter with some locals!

We learned from them that we were close to the National Museum of Korea, so we headed over there after lunch.

It was really neat to see the progression of tools and how far things have come! This museum was HUGE!!! We took it all in and had a great afternoon.
There were amazing statues of Buddha!

These are the steps we saw as we went to enter the museum. How neat!

We wanted to squeeze in some shopping so we went over to Itaewon. This looks somewhat like Gatlinburg. We went in several shops and stopped at a Paris Baguette for a snack.

There is a restaurant here that I have been looking for because it is called Nashville! How neat is that. We are on the other side of the world, and we see a restaurant that represents home.

We grabbed a taxi and headed back to our hotel. I don't think we have seen the same street twice. We passed the police station and fire hall. Their engines are so much nicer than ours!!! We got back to our hotel and John wanted to walk back to the fire hall. He said they were very friendly. John told them his dad was a fireman. The chief came out and introduced himself and then they pulled the truck out for John to look around. Everyone here has been extremely welcoming!!!

I think that is it for day 4. Today we are headed to the war memorial and Insadong.
